"The Gallery of the Great Citizens of Lodz"

In the main street of Lodz you can find some monuments of famous people connected with our city. They all are made of bronze and called "The Gallery of the Great Citizens of Lodz".

One of them is "Rubinstein's Piano". He was the famous pianist who spent his childchood in the nearby house. You can sit next to the pianist and listen to him playing for you.

"Creators of Industrial Lodz" is the sculpture of the greatest 19th century manufacture ownwrs. They are sitting at the round table and talking about the future development of Lodz. There are some chairs not taken so you can sit. It's a good idea to rub a nose of one of the figures, which is believed to bring good luck.
This is "Reymont's Coffer", the monument of Wladyslaw Reymont, our great novelist and The Nobel Prize winner in literature in 1924. Here, in Lodz he collected materials for his well -known novel "The Promised Land". People sit on the coffer and have a rest after a busy day.

Our favourite is "Tuwim's Bench", The first sculpture of "The Gallery of the Great Citizens of Lodz". Julian Tuwim, the prominent Polish poet of Jewish origin lived in our city and wrote a lot of poems for choldren. To celebrate his birthday some of us disguised as known characters from his poems.
